What To Know Before You Reset an Aqua X Phone

What should be done before resetting?

  • Removes resident's Google account

These two steps are essential. If either the Google account or passcode is left on the phone, Android security may prevent the device from being reset, which can make it unusable for the next resident.

One quick tip: have the resident show you their passcode before removing it. This can be helpful if any troubleshooting is needed during the reset process.

Why does the Google account and passcode need to be removed?

Google Pixel devices that our AquaX runs on are designed to protect personal data. After a reset, the phone may ask for the previous resident’s Google account credentials or passcode. If those details aren’t removed ahead of time, the device can become difficult to recover or locked.

Removing both ahead of time keeps things simple and avoids delays.

How do I remove a Google account?

To remove the Google account, follow these steps on the phone:

  1. Open Settings

  2. Tap Passwords & accounts (or Passwords, passkeys & accounts)

  3. Select the Google account

  4. Tap Remove account

  5. Confirm by tapping Remove account again

If this is the only account on the device, you may be asked to enter the current PIN or password. Removing the account will also remove related data such as email, contacts, and account settings from the phone.

How do I remove the screen lock passcode?

To remove the screen lock passcode:

  1. Open Settings

  2. Tap Security & Privacy

  3. Select Device unlock

  4. Tap Screen lock

  5. Enter the current PIN or password

  6. Choose None

  7. Confirm by tapping Delete

When is the phone ready for a new resident?

After the account and passcode are removed, the device is deactivated, and the reset is complete, the AquaX phone is ready to be re-onboarded for a new resident without any lock or verification issues.
